Christopher Hays has over twenty years of experience working on numerous award-winning and notable design projects in the United States, Japan, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. While Design Partner at William McDonough + Partners, Hays worked on large and small-scale corporate projects, academic, cultural and residential projects. Prior to working with William McDonough, Hays worked with Renzo Piano in Italy and Cesar Pelli in New Haven, Connecticut. He brings this broad cultural perspective to the practice of Hays + Ewing Design Studio to create a fusion of environmental intelligence and a fresh design approach. Hays is currently teaching at the University of Virginia School of Architecture and has just recently joined the Advisory Board of Build Better, a grassroots non-profit competition whose goal is to build the world's first hybrid city as a result of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
Allison Ewing has over seventeen years experience working on projects in Japan, Italy, Mexico and the Netherlands. As a Partner at William McDonough + Partners, Ms. Ewing led a range of award-winning institutional, residential and mixed-use projects. Prior to working at William McDonough + Partners, Ms. Ewing worked with Renzo Piano in Genoa, Italy, Cesar Pelli in New Haven, Connecticut, and Chermayeff & Geismar in New York City. A recipient of the Japan Monbusho Grant, Ms. Ewing studied Japanese housing types in Tokyo after completing her graduate studies at the Yale University Graduate School of Architecture.
